frugal frame.

So I went to this estate sale about 3 months ago. I found this regular looking picture frame. Nothing special.....but it was a $1.  I've been hawking the pic. frame section in the thrift stores for a while and they are kind of expensive to me. They range from 5$-7$ and up for mass produced frames with imperfections....AND I would have to take it home and rework it. I still havent been able to find any really good quality picture frames at the thrift stores I've been hawking, so I decided to make my own I am new at this picture frame thing. I really think I need assistance picture frame shopping.:

Then paint got involved:

I tried applying paint with a roller but I was going for the antiqued look and a paper towel actually did it perfectly.

The things I do when I don't have the funds to buy the artwork I would like:

038I painted the the glass and cut up pieces of paper bag and painted them.  Really abstract but it came out pretty decent.  Not I just have to do some similar and subtle frames to compliment it. No matchy matchy hopefully.

On another note I bought some GORGEOUS shoes that I can't seem to find a look for. Somebody hep me plee. Hopefully I can rest my eyes tonight and think of one. Next post!

outfit and shoes below but I'm def about due for a thrift store rework.  Lets hope and pray i do not find any more clothes to buy tomorrow.  This is purging season!(which is when people give away the best stuff.)  Antieway, the outfit below was put together during a try-on episode I was having after work this week. I really have to strike a balance between appropriate and comfortable for work while adding a dash of ME in there somewhere. I can wear jeans, so this is not a conventional professional outfit:

Sweater: Forever 21
Sandals: Boutique 9
 Earrings: Old Navy
 Jeans: Old Navy (again)

Going thrift furniture shopping tomorrow making this two days in a row.  Bought this sturdy and wood end table today and will attempt to go back for the second one.  Hopefully its still there.  15$ a pop, and both are REALLY scratched up but I def. think I can turn it out. I don't think I will paint this though, I want it to be natural looking. We'll see with all the nooks and crannies on these. Definitely feel inspired to get my artsy fartsy on with these gorgeous yet scratched pieces.  Looks like they got side swiped by a Hyundai going at LEAST 3 miles an hour. Anyway, might be a while before I can give it/them a nod.

outfit migration

Again, in an effort to turn my outfit into something exciting, I took absolutely too long to get ready.  But in the process, I was able to figure out 2 ways to wear a blouse that I've had in my closet for at least 2 years. *HIGH FIVE*

Work outfit worn today, discovered while taking absolutely too long to get ready on Saturday. The wack rain interfered with my platform wedge action for today. Regular winter boot heels were done:

What was worn on Sattiday. More rain, therefore go I with some rainboots:

my sandal surfing journey today

Went shoe surfing on the interwebs today and came across these senoritas bonitas. And I really have to curb my  fascination with sad love songs of the reggae and r&b kind. Those two genres really have the best love songs though.
Enjoy!:

Go BULLS!

And I really mean that from the bottoms of both my shoe loving and Bulls loving  hearts......The title of this post has very little to do with the content besides the colors I'm wearing though. I just had to say HOO!-RAH! Chicago!
This post is really about Vision vs. Final Decision
-You ever had a vision for an outfit? Pick it out in your head? Follow through and THEN look in the mirror? Then proceed to leave the house in an outfit totally different from the VISION?
Well, I go through this everyday.  Exhibit 1....Dressing for my buddy's B-day party:

In my head this outfit worked! In real life, I got razor blade happy and required undershorts that I didn't have access to at the time.  Fixing the technical difficulties of these pants is a MUST because they are in my top 2 fav fitting jeans. These are jeans that I bought at Old navy a size larger for a $1. Well, I was able to resize them with my sewing machine and make them fit.  I just got razor blade happy in the wrong places. Also, I wasn't totally in agreement with how the shoes looked in this fit. So, scrapped. It worked in my head though......

This is a pic of what I was wearing no. matter. what! The essentials.....the heels, the earrings, the top.

Bracelet combo - This is a pic of a chainlink bracelet that I bought from Lori's shoes  that I tangled with a necklace that I purchased from H&M.  One of my favorite bracelets now.

velvet goes with everything,

This week, it does. My velvet was so nice, had to wear it twice in one week.
To work:
004picnikfile_BUbLbX
Dorothy Perkins dress
 Enzo Boots
Thrifted Velvet Blazer
And a coupla scarves
I got a chance to go to a Teedra Moses Concert! I have been anticipating her return to Chicago for a long time, so it was heaven to hear homegirl sing. Love her.
Now, leggings or jeans? This wind is no punk right now, so I just went with the jeans. I am usually not an advocate for wearing leggings as bottoms, but the one night I just felt like getting my Gaga on and going bottomless the wind wouldn't let me. So jeans it was. And I'm a sucker for having only 1 or 2 pairs of heels that strike my fancy and WEARING them until they have to be resoled. So, the boots are my usual Very Volatile. The skirt I wore as a top? Yeah, I did it. To be honest I'm not really a fan of skirts. Dresses, YES. Skirts, enhhh most times. But this is my favorite skirt. HA.
