These shoes were inspiring.

 Derek Lam  Daphnee
I cant draw but saw these shoes last night on missmeanshoe and was inspired to draw them.  Um yeah, I don't draw.  I was actually looking at these *drool* which led me to missmeanshoe which somehow? led me to necole beechie (that's how I say it).  So then i was interested to read up on the maker of the shoes that Raven Symone wore on Wendy.  They're actually not the super expensive one I thought. Who. Knew.  They're actually by a young woman named Natischa Harvey with a shoe line called Fever.  She started out in her early 20's opening shoe boutiques in Atlanta and moving on to designing her own shoes.  With no formal training, she was able to visualize and draw shoes and turn them into shoes that others were inspired by.  I was inspired by her persistence and dedication AND the fact that she has 3 little ones at home while doing all this.

I'm also working on an accordion skirt that I thrifted and just wanted to see if I could draw the process. yeah so this is what I got.  Besides that, its almost Friday and I'm so glad.

THE HIT LIST: RODARTE SPRING 2011 - OPENING CEREMONY

Carved from wood, metal, and pyrite cubes, the shoes are not only dazzling but also miraculously lightweight.

THE HIT LIST: RODARTE SPRING 2011 - OPENING CEREMONY

The shoes at the bottom are truly wearable art. I love the antiqued brassy look of the chunk heels. They look heavy, bold, and sturdy and still airy and feminine. And of course the wedges are my favorite. The carving reminds me of a scene from Alice in Wonderland carved into a tree trunk. I hope Rodarte keeps this up. I enjoyed just admiring these puppies.
The heels on these wedges are so intricate yet still wearable. I want to be where they are.

A fish fry on a Saturday?

I though fish fry's were traditionally a Friday event.  Well, either way, I heard somebody's momma is a cooking phenomenon and I'm about to get my GRUB ON.  I'm about to be a fish eating fool right after I get through typing this........after I decide what earrings I'm gonna put on and hit up Target right quick. I don't eat meat, seafood is gospel to me.  Oh, how I love thee.  Here's my fish fry outfit. Watch these people just have pork and chicken left......I need to hurry up. Anyway, this is my Saturday fish fry outfit:

I want a cigarette.

This is a diary entry regarding my love for squares, smokes, cigarettes.  Well, I quit smoking a little over a year ago....I stopped counting days after a while.  It was just something that had to be done.  I think those things were giving me asthma, lol. Whatever side effect they had, I was slowly getting them all, pretty much. But BOY DO I MISS THEM.  I think I snap off more frequently now that i don't smoke, which is a travesty because I'm actually a laid back person.  Did I mention that i love dragging on cigarettes as smoke drifts away from my nostrils. Just great!  But since I've got my breath back and my metabolism seems to be leveling out, I can't go back.
ANYWAY, I think shoes have been the most 1/2 way healthy distraction I've engaged in. So, here's to the cigarettes that I won't be smoking AND to the shoes that I haven't purchased yet.
Thursday was such a beautiful day/night. Bye summer. This time forreal, I guess:

Dream Hoelettos.

On a regular day I do not wear heels. Stilettos? Pshhhhhhhhhhh, yeah right. But I have shoes that I look at and study for months that don't really fit into my lifestyle but I WANT.  To be a dream hoeletto it just needs to 1. be out of my tax bracket. and 2. be odd enough to be fantasy shoes. And 3. They have to make me feel like a superstar in the They say if they don't fit your lifestyle you shouldn't buy them. But I want these. I would definitely use them as wall art though. I'd buy a shelf JUST to put these on the wall.  And GUESS what? Raven Simone had the NERVE! to have them on when she was on Wendy! I'm going to need her to stay out of my head.  I just know I saw these first. I've been eyeing these for 6 months at least. Ok. She might have saw em first. I know how some celebs get first dibs on shoes. I love her. Shoes are not a game to her I see.

First of ALL.

Yeah. So I did my first thrift store alteration......myself. woo. hoo.  It was literally the 5th or 6th time I'd used a sewing machine in my life. But I have GOT to edit all the pieces I got from the thrift store asap and this is a simple task.......... I'm not allowed to go thrifting again until I fix whatever malfunctions exist in the clothes that I've bought. This dress reminds me of a box of Crayolas that got left in the sun too long and then some little boy came along and decided to do some Van Gogh finger paint. But shoo no wha? I heard violins and harps when I saw it. Imma take a better pic when i can get the bust area together. lol Even though it looked like an 80's secretary's dress it still had potential because the color is so vivid.  It sorta looked like this one before:

From Tiger Vintage Etsy Shop

Firstly, it was entirely too long and just swallowed me up I shortened the hem a great deal. Maybe a lil too much, but it was hitting the top of my ankles. not cute. Also, it was a tad bit blousy at the top for the style of the dress.  So I tightened the seams at the side. Now it won't button. Booooooo! But Imma go back and loosen it for buttoning purposes.  lol.  I'm almost there. I love how the sleeves are blousy and the top is SNATCHED and fitted now....a little too snatched. HA!  Unfortunately I didn't take before pics. I forget the important shit sometimes.

oh yeah. Shoes. I was thinking some boots but enh. These would def. would be an option:

8 more months til springtime in Chicago and

we about to get a new mayor Dawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwg.  Ever since I have lived here, we have had TWO mayors.  F it.  I'm 30 yo and Ive been living here since I was 6.........so you do the mathematics. Daley and Washington.  It should be interesting to see who he picks as the next mayor. Like forreal, he's not going to be the mayor and he has enough clout to pick the next mayor.  Rick Rawse is a joke to me. Cause he's NOT the Bawse, Daley is.  Chicago has had the same mayor for 20-some-odd years and nobody officially called bullshit.  This should be interesting.
But yeah. 8 more months to springtime is how I know that summer is officially over and the countdown to spring is beginning.  I wonder if its the same for other folx in cold climates to get giddy over the most inconsequential piece of warm weather? Eye. Dee. Kay, but I'm looking forward to how we Chicago folx *go ham* over 64 degrees and a warm breeze. Its a sight to see.
Couple-a-weekend pics:
 Happy Fall...............happy fall.

Somebody is putting in WORK+overtime in the background. Just trying to steal all our thunder.

I know homegirl is not trying to serve face in the back of our pic. Humn.

Nya Shoes - I gotta ask her where she got these AND what color that is on the piggies.  The polish is stealing the show along with the heel.  I have more than a few sandals with the asymmetrical heel. They are so comfy.  I think that's why I kept buying them. I gotta stop that. Man. we had fun. It was nice to get out and mangle.  It'll be a while before I go to somebody's club again though.

Yeah. Thanks to the young lady who let me have a mini fashion show with her right foot in the club.  These shoes were too dope to pass up. Ms. Nya pointed em out too.  I wanted to ask her what brand but I had already asked her to pose so I could take a pic of her foot. So to avoid looking like a total wierdo I didn't ask her what brand. Those look like they might be leather bottoms though. Too raw.

I love Chicago

That doesn't have anything to do with anything, I'm just sayin.  I wore shoes this weekend.

They were so comfy. Urban Outfitters. I'm not buying shoes from them right now though. They're on punishment. Why is their shipping now $10?  AND add tax to that. I guess they're doing really well. But anyway. I came up on these puppies 2 years ago and just got around to wearing them.  They were too comfy as some of my wedges tend to be. Now I've had some wedges that were just as painful as a pair of pointy toed pumps(I hope these aren't really making a comeback). I spent a lot of time shoe browsing this weekend as I'm trying to keep it frugal these days. So the shoes below are not necessarily on my want list per say, but on my inspiration list:
